Fave film?  I have a soft spot for Akira, as the first sub-titled film I watched at the cinema.
And no, there shouldn't be an American remake.  Yes, I know there's a rumoured live action version due in 2013 that Warner Bros have paid for.  But may not happen.  And some people aren't happy about the casting anyhoo:  http://www.comicsalliance.com/2011/04/21/george-takei-akira-whitewashing-asian/.   I just think it's perfect as is.

Remakes in general don't float my boat.

Just a quick note about this journal ... it's friends only to stop random spamming, but I'm usually open to being friendly! If I know you in the real world you're welcome to be flisted (oo-er, missus!), or if you're a friend of a friend on LJ, myspazz, etc, I'll prolly investigate and stuff first.

But overall, am happy to be friendly and chat to people with similar interests, whether that be the bouncy world of gigging, the fake worlds of roleplaying and Lorien Trust LRP, the worky world of University, cooking chocolatey things, or those who enjoy Elf Sternberg's stuff, to name but a few.

I'm a typist (audio + copy), have copy-edited articles into housestyle for book/journal/PhD publication, and enjoy listing stuff (but don't always get around to it...)

tra for now,

Froglet

[Error: unknown template qotd]Yeah, the M-B one.  Although it was some time back.  I think I came out as INFP.   The results weren't particularly surprising.

mostly for [livejournal.com profile] flooks' attention:

a Daft Punk cover version on Nintendo DS, keyboard and theremin.

D said that it looked wrong and was fake, but having looked at the guy's website, prolly not.
ie ruddy hell, he's good!
(ok, the scrolling message was faked).

[Error: unknown template qotd]Roald Dahl - he died in 1990, after I'd been reading his books for about 8 years or so.  I started with borrowing my sister's copy of Fantastic Mr Fox, and then mostly read his short story collections - Kiss Kiss being one of my favourites.   Despite being known mostly for his children's books, his adult fiction was fantastic, in all senses of the word.

I was also sad when Robert A Heinlein passed away in 1988, as his fiction also touched me (Time Enough for Love, Friday, etc) and, indeed, shaped some of my thoughts and values.

These two go to disprove the rule 'stars that burn brightest, burn fastest and, thus, have the shortest lifetimes', whereas that's definitely how it was for Messrs Ledger & Cobain.

well, that tasty brown beverage will be mine indeed, once D has brought it in from the kitchen.  And we have chocs from Justins in Whitby too, yum.

There's a Jamaican Orange & Ginger cake lying around somewhere that needs scoffing, too.  Sticky gingery goodness ;)

I need to have a proper think about a proper blog entry soon, I reckon.

but my attention has been distracted by a packet of dark choc hobnobs being lobbed into my lap.

[Error: unknown template qotd]I always thought Baba Yaga was kinda scary when I was a kid, the illustrations of a chicken-legged house chasing after people definitely stuck in my head.

Hello everyone,

I've managed to snaffle accomm for Whitby, so am now desperately saving for the train fare Friday night!  Unfortunately I can't get time off work at the same time as my bf who's going in the car.

Please buy my pretty things:-

1: New Rock Boots - size 6 - purple metallic & black - ribbon-type lacing )

2: Emily the Strange - black hooded top - Size Large )

3: Black trousers - smart for office or evening wear - kinda pinstriped - Size 18 )

4: Sandals - red platforms, beautiful fabric - Size 5. EDIT: trying to post sketch today to show measurements )

5 - 13: BOOTS! Size 6, plus a couple of Size 10 )

11: Boots - black/red, skulls )

12: Boots - black, skulls, size 10 )

13: Boots - black/red, voodoo skull, size 10 )

If you can't see the details you want to, let me know and I'll take some more close-up photos for you.

No trades, please, I need the cash at the moment ;)

On second thoughts, the only thing I'll trade for is a pair of size 18 Cherokee black corduroy trousers, the ones with the little bow in the back near the label inside.
The two pairs I got from Tesco's have now fallen apart, and they were really comfy for work.

I'd prefer payment via Paypal, and for you to use the paypal calculator site to add fees, please.

Postage - I'll figure this out per item, but obviously will rework it if you buy more than one item.  I'll use the Royal Mail website.
For example, the ankle length Size 6 boots are around 1kg in weight, so that'd be £3.08 for 1st class post, no insurance.

I've got 100% feedback on ebay as jackiefrog, and have bought stuff here without any probs.

thanks for looking, and pretty please, buy my stuff!!

xx

Found a good website the other day.

http://www.freerice.com

You play a little word game, can see what your vocab is like, and by doing so give rice to people who need to eat it via the UN.

OK, so instead of choosing the sensible option of going to one event tonight, D and I are going to attempt to be in three consecutive places!

Starting around 8pm, head to the free gig at The Rigger for New York Alcoholic Anxiety Attack (I love the TLA here - NYAAA)
If last week is anything to go by, they'll have them on first and Vert (whoever they are) on later.

Then to The Glebe, for Sian's Devil's Toybox night - she's booked some Japanese band called Psydoll, and being as they usually get the choice of what time to go on, it's not usually til 9:30, 10:00pm.

And then if we're still up to it, D'll drive to The Appleby in Burton for Pitch Black, again, free to get in, and a goth/punk/etc DJ til 2.

fun fun fun!

just thinking about what to wear ... my practical head says jeans and t-shirt rather than corset as driving around in latter isn't always that comfy...

;)
